The Kingston Sailing Club is a long-time partner of the Hudson River Maritime Museum, and their Sailing School and Wooden Boat School. We enjoy regular use of their facilities, we volunteer for and support their programs, and many of our sailors are active with both organizations. They are a vital member of our Rondout Creek & Hudson River communities.
By agreement, all associate and skipper KSC members contribute $20 via KSC to the museum as part of your annual club fee. You are welcome and encouraged to give more directly to HRMM.
Fees pay for:
Club contributions to HRMM, 'Eleanor' Historic Hudson Wooden Boat, and others
Club Insurance
Club donations toward the maintenance of the HRMM's Sailing School fleet
Club membership in HRYRA
Club website and communications
Supplies for community 'Afters' BBQs and socials
Membership Notes:
Your first sail is free, then membership is required for a reasonable fee for the season.
KSC does not own boats, several of our members do. Access to boats is strictly by agreement with each boat's skipper. We attempt to pair new members with skippers for racing and cruising, but there isn't always space for everyone who shows. Most people make it on the water most of the time.
On race days, if you come to the Hudson River Maritime Museum by 10:00 am, you can see if any skippers need a crew. We meet outside, on the East end of the HRMM campus, by the Wooden Boat School building, near Ole Savannah restaurant. Physical address is 86 Rondout Landing, Kingston.
Some boats have had the same race crews for years. Others change some year-to-year, and even week-to-week.
On community cruising dates (Wednesday evenings - see calendar), all skippers and crew who wish to participate should come to the Skippers Meetings at the East Patio of the HRMM Wooden Boat School between 4:30-5 pm to get updates and to sort out who is going on which boat. Boat owners, if possible, please let Cruise Committee Chair Amy Cahill know if you will be able to attend by emailing her at amymariecahill@gmail.com, but you can also just drop in. Anyone is also free to text Amy at 845-380-3937.
The more you come, the more likely you'll get to sail.
